History

The Perry County Historical Museum is dedicated to preserving the county’s rich history. Located on the square at 408 Main Street in a stone structure that once served as the American Legion ‘hut’, the museum is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and exemplifies the architecture and craftsmanship of the Civilian Conservation Corps during the 1930s.

Renovation of the structure and grounds is complete with development of temporary and permanent exhibits under way. Coming soon is a website: www.PerryCountyHistoricalMuseum.org.

The Museum is open during Fourche River Days, an annual spring festival, and the On-the-Square Christmas holiday celebration. The facility is available, with Board approval, for educational purposes and special events.

Please come see us during the Fourche River Days and bring old & new aprons for display.

Mission

The Museum’s mission is to preserve history across the county for future generations.
